A Life in Music

Emma Arachtingi is an acclaimed mezzo-soprano whose performances span the great operatic repertoire and concert stages across Europe and North America. Known for her rich timbre and commanding stage presence, she brings authenticity and emotional truth to every role.

Hailed for her "velvety mezzo-soprano and magnetic stage presence," Emma Arachtingi has established herself as one of the most compelling voices of her generation. Her performances have been praised by critics across Europe and North America for their emotional depth and technical mastery.

Emma Arachtingi began her musical journey in Athens, Greece, where she studied piano and voice before continuing her training at the Royal Academy of Music in London and the Accademia Chigiana in Siena. Her early career was marked by competition successes, including prizes at the BBC Cardiff Singer of the World and the Operalia competition.

On the operatic stage, Ms. Arachtingi has appeared in leading roles at the Royal Opera House Covent Garden, Teatro alla Scala, Opéra National de Paris, and the Metropolitan Opera. Her repertoire encompasses the great mezzo-soprano roles of Verdi, Wagner, and Strauss, as well as contemporary works by Adams, Adès, and Saariaho.

Recent highlights include Carmen at the Salzburg Festival, Brangäne in Tristan und Isolde at Bayreuth, and the title role in Handel's Giulio Cesare at Glyndebourne. Critics have noted her "extraordinary ability to convey complex emotional landscapes through vocal color alone."

Arachtingi's Carmen is a revelation — fierce, vulnerable, and utterly captivating from first note to last.
