Emma Arachtingi

Emma Arachtingi began her musical journey in Athens, Greece, where she studied piano and voice before continuing her training at the Royal Academy of Music in London and the Accademia Chigiana in Siena. Her early career was marked by competition successes, including prizes at the BBC Cardiff Singer of the World and the Operalia competition.

On the operatic stage, Ms. Arachtingi has appeared in leading roles at the Royal Opera House Covent Garden, Teatro alla Scala, Opéra National de Paris, and the Metropolitan Opera. Her repertoire encompasses the great mezzo-soprano roles of Verdi, Wagner, and Strauss, as well as contemporary works by Adams, Adès, and Saariaho.

Recent highlights include Carmen at the Salzburg Festival, Brangäne in Tristan und Isolde at Bayreuth, and the title role in Handel's Giulio Cesare at Glyndebourne. Critics have noted her "extraordinary ability to convey complex emotional landscapes through vocal color alone."

As a concert artist, Emma Arachtingi has performed with the Berlin Philharmonic, Vienna Philharmonic, and London Symphony Orchestra under conductors including Simon Rattle, Gustavo Dudamel, and Yannick Nézet-Séguin. Her recital programs explore the lieder repertoire alongside works by Greek composers.

Committed to nurturing the next generation of artists, Ms. Arachtingi regularly gives masterclasses at conservatories across Europe and serves on the faculty of the International Opera Studio. She is also an advocate for music education in underserved communities.
